A short ride to Kuni-kyō
Having been very busy the past week, I was only able to get in a few short rides beyond my normal daily commute. On one of those rides I decided to try and find the ruins of Kuni-kyō, which is located in Kizugawa, Kyoto prefecture, about 10km north of Nara city.
Kuni-kyō was the capital city of Japan for only 4 short years, from 740 to 744 before moving to Osaka briefly, and then back to Nara city. Although the capital city was never completed, there are still some remains left.
