The Jinrikisha of Nara
Some things
in Nara never change, and one of those things is the Rickshaw. What was once
a common form of transportation in the late 1800’s in Nara, the “Jinrikisha” slowly fell
way to bicycles, automobiles and trains. In recent years though, they have come
back and have
found a new life as tourist taxi’s around the Nara park area. Jinrikisha tours start around ¥2000 - ¥3000 depending upon the
distance you want to go. Although I have yet to try, it looks like fun! Cheers to the guys who are pulling these around in the summer heat!
